Ae Himalaya! Ae faseel-e-kishwar-e-Hindustan
Choomta hai teri peshaani ko jhuk kar aasman
Tujh mein kuch paida nahi deinah rozi ke nishan
Tu jawan hai gardish-e-shaam-o-sehar ke darmiyan
Ek jalwa tha kaleem-e-Toor-e-Seena ke liye
Tu tajalli hai sarapa chashm-e-beena ke liye
Imtihaan deedah zaahir mein kohistan hai tu
Paasbaan apna hai tu, deewar-e-Hindustan hai tu
Matla-e-awwal falak jiska ho wo deewan hai tu
Soye khalwat gaah-e-dil daaman kash-e-insaan hai tu
Barf ne baandhi hai dastaar-e-fazeelat tere sar
Khanda zan hai jo kalaah-e-mehr-e-aalam taab par
Teri umr rafta ki ik aan hai ahd-e-kohan
Wadiyon mein hain teri kaali ghataein khema zan
Chotiyaan teri suraiya se hain sargarm-e-sukhan
Tu zameen par aur pehnaaye falak tera watan
Chashma-e-daaman tera aaeena sayyaal hai
Daaman-e-mauj-e-hawa jis ke liye roomal hai
Abr ke haathon mein rahwaar-e-hawa ke waaste
Taaziyana de diya barq sar ko hisaar ne
Ae Himalaya koi baazi gaah hai tu bhi jise
Dast-e-qudrat ne banaya hai anasir ke liye
Haaye kya farat-e-tarab mein jhoomta jaata hai abr
Feel-e-be-zanjeer ki soorat uda jaata hai abr
Junbish-e-mauj-e-naseem-e-subh gahwara bani
Jhoomti hai nashah-e-hasti mein har gul ki kali
Yoon zabaan-e-barg se goya hai us ki khaamoshi
Dast-e-gulcheen ki jhatak maine nahi dekhi kabhi
Keh rahi hai meri khaamoshi hi afsana mera
Kunj-e-khalwat khaana-e-qudrat hai kaashaana mera
Aati hai nadi faraaz-e-koh se gaati hui
Kausar-o-Tasneem ki maujon ko sharmaati hui
Aaeena sa shaahid-e-qudrat ko dikhaati hui
Sang-e-rah se gaah bachti, gaah takraati hui
Cheerti ja is Iraq-e-dil-nasheen ke saaz ko
Ae musaafir! Dil samajhta hai teri awaaz ko
Lailti shab ko kholti hai aa ke jab zulf-e-rasa
Daaman-e-dil kheenchti hai aabsharon ki sada
Woh khamoshi shaam ki jis par takallum ho Khuda
Woh darakhton par tafakkur ka samaan chhaya hua
Kaanpata phirta hai kya rang-e-shafaq kehsaar par
Khushnuma lagta hai hai yeh aalam tere rukhsaar par
Ae Himalaya! Dastaan us waqt ki koi sa
Maskan aabaaye insaan jab bana daaman tera
Kuch bata us seedhi saadi zindagi ka maajra
Daagh jis par ghaaza-e-rang-e-takalluf ka na tha
Haan dikha de ae tasawwur! Phir woh subh-o-shaam tu
Dodh peeche ki taraf ae gardish-e-aayam tu
Nazm ka matlab
Is nazm par baat karne se pehle ye batana zaroori hai ke jis tarah Bang-e-Dra Allama Iqbal ki shayari ka pehla majmua (collection) hai, usi tarah “Himalaya” unki sabse pehli nazmon me se hai — aur ye Bang-e-Dra ki bhi pehli nazm hai. Bang-e-Dra ki poori shayari ke bare me chhoti si tafseel is sharh ke muqaddame me di gayi hai. Is liye Himalaya ke bare me kehna galat nahi hoga ke is me Iqbal ne apni philosophical aur soch-vichar wali fikri soch ke bajaye fitrat (nature) aur ek had tak watan se muhabbat ka jazba dikhaya hai.
Matlab ye ke baad ki kitabon — jaise Bal-e-Jibreel aur Zarb-e-Kaleem — me unhone jo soch aur falsafa dikhaya, us ke muqable me Bang-e-Dra zyada natural aur simple nazar aati hai. Is liye Himalaya ko bhi isi angle se samajhna chahiye.

Kaleem-e-Toor: Hazrat Musa (A.S.) ka laqab, jo Koh-e-Toor par Allah se baat karte the
Chashm-e-beena: dekhne wali ankhein
Matlab: Is nazm ka poora scene fitrat ke husn aur watan se chaahat se bhara hua hai. Iqbal Himalaya se keh rahe hain ke tu wo ooncha pahad hai jo sirf Hindustan ka muhafiz nahi balki is mulk ki deewar jaisa hai. Teri bulandi ko dekhkar aasmaan bhi jhuk kar tujhe choomta hai — matlab tu itna buland hai ke aasmaan bhi tere qareeb lagta hai.
Iqbal kehte hain ke ae Himalaya, tera wajood shuru se bana hua hai, lekin ab tak tu bilkul taza aur zabardast nazar aata hai. Din aur raat ke guzarte dauron ke bawajood bhi tu hamesha jawan aur taqatwar hai.
Agle misre me Iqbal Hazrat Musa aur Koh-e-Toor ka zikr karte hue kehte hain ke tera wajood unke liye bhi ek naya noor hai. Har wo aankh jo dekhne wali hai, tere andar ek noor ka jhalak dekhti hai. Matlab, tu sirf pahad nahi balki Allah ke qudrati nazare ka ek ajeeb karishma hai.

Dastaar-e-fazilat: izzat aur badi honay ki pugdi
Kulah-e-mehr-e-aalam-taab: suraj ki chamakdaar topi
Matlab: Ae Himalaya, tu zahir me to pahad lagta hai lekin asal me tu humara rakhwala hai. Tu Hindustan ke liye ek mazboot deewar ki tarah hai. Agar tujhe kisi shaayar ka deewan samjha jaye to tera pehla sher aasmaan hoga. Tu har insaan ka dil kheench leta hai, kyunki tu sukoon aur aman ki nishani hai.
Tere sir par barf ka jo safed jhilmil libaada hai, wo izzat ki pugdi lagta hai. Ye pugdi suraj ki chamak par bhi muskurati hui lagti hai. Yahan Iqbal ne fitrat ke manazir ke saath bohot khoobsoorat imagery aur symbols ka istemal kiya hai.

Suraiya: aasman ke sat tare
Pehnaaye falak: aasman ki chhata ya space
Aaeena sayyaal: behne wala shafaaf shisha
Matlab: Ae Himalaya, teri purani zindagi itni lambi hai ke tu khud ek puraana daur lagta hai. Tere aas paas ki wadiyon me tere saaye kisi khaime (tent) ki tarah latak rahe hain. Teri unchi choṭiyan lagta hai jaise aasman ke taarey se baat kar rahi hain.
Tu dharti par hai lekin tera wajood aasman ke saath jura hua lagta hai. Tere daaman me jo jharne aur pani ke chashme hain wo itne saaf hain ke jaise chalta hua shisha ho. Aur yahan chalti hawa un paniyon ko aur zyada saaf banati hai.

Rehvaar-e-hawa: hawa ka ghoda
Kohsaar: pahad
Baazi-gaah: khel ka maidan
Feel: haathi
Matlab: Iqbal kehte hain ke ae Himalaya, tera mahol dekh kar lagta hai jaise hawa ek tez daudta ghoda hai. Tere upar chamakne wali bijli ne in badalon ke haath me ek chabuk de di hai. Aisa lagta hai ke tera daaman ek khel ka maidan hai jise Khuda ne khud design kiya hai.
Badal is kadar khushi se udte hain jaise bedango faarigh haathi hawa me nach rahe ho. Ye imagery Iqbal ke andaaz-e-bayan ka behtareen example hai.
Paanchwa Hissa – Maayne aur Matlab
Junbish-e-mauj-e-naseem: subah ki hawa ka halki harkat
Gahwara: jhoola
Barg: patta
Matlab: Subah ki halki hawa ek jhoolay ki tarah mehsoos hoti hai jahan kaliyan khushi me jhoom rahi hoti hain. Patton ki khamoshi aise lagti hai jaise wo keh rahe ho — “mujhe ab tak kisi ne nahi toda.” Matlab, Himalaya ki bulandi tak insaan pahunch nahi sakta, jahan ye kaliyan khilti hain.
Akhri misre me Himalaya ke zariye Iqbal kehte hain ke meri khamoshi hi meri kahani hai, aur fitrat ka ye sukoon bhara kona hi mera asli ghar hai.

Faraaz-e-koh: pahad ki bulandi
Shaahid-e-qudrat: fitrat ka husn
Iraq: ek raag ya dhun
Matlab: Himalaya ki choṭiyon se nadiyan neeche beh kar jab awaaz karti hain to wo ek geet jaisa lagta hai. Nadiya itni khubsurat hain ke swarg ke pankh-pakharay bhi sharma jayein. Kabhi wo pathron se bach kar nikalti hain, kabhi unse takra kar sur banati hain.
Akhri sher me Iqbal kehte hain — ae musafir nadi, is dilkash raag ko bajati reh, mera dil teri saadgi bhari awaaz ko samajhta hai.
Saatwa Hissa – Maayne aur Matlab
Lailti shab: kali raat
Ghaaza: powder ya rang
Matlab: Jab raat apni kaali zulfen phailati hai to pahadon se girti aabshar ki awaaz itni dilkash lagti hai ke insaan chup ho jaata hai. Pura manzar sukoon aur soch me ghira hota hai.
Shaam ke waqt jab suraj ke dhalne ka laal rang pahadon par padta hai to lagta hai ke fitrat ne Himalaya ke chehre par khoobsurat laal rang ka powder lagaya ho.

Abaaye-insaan: purkhe ya pehle log
Matlab: Iqbal aakhri band me Himalaya se kehte hain — ae Himalaya! mujhe bata wo purane zamane ka scene kaisa tha jab Aadmi ke pehle log (Aadam aur unke baad wale) tere daaman me aake rahe the? Tu to un lamhon ka sakshi hai.
Unka jeevan seedha aur simple tha, jisme takalluf (banawat) ka namo nishan nahi tha. Jab Himalaya ne jawab nahi diya to Iqbal apni tasavur ki duniya me kehte hain — ae khayal, tu hi mujhe wo puraana daur dikha de, kyunki ye pahad to chup hai, lekin tera tasavur un purane dinon ko zinda kar sakta hai.
